The Oakville Hornets Girls Hockey Association would like to inform all those interested in being part of the Intermediate AA team for the upcoming 2010/2011 hockey season.
The Hornets will ensure that a high level, respected coaching staff will lead the program in 2010/2011.
Tryouts for this team will take place in late April at Joshua Creek Arena.
We encourage all current IAA players and all other Oakville residents to attend these tryouts in April. With the addition of four more arenas opening in Oakville next hockey season, we are confident that this team will have ample ice and more favorable ice times for the upcoming years. There will be no import restrictions for the team.
We have secured the use of the Blue Change Room (Joshua's Creek) which will be exclusive to this team for years to come.
We encourage past, present, and other interested parties who would like to be involved with this team, from coaching, general manager, trainers, equipment manager and so forth to apply.
The Hornets Intermediate AA team will be welcomed and will feel connected to the Hornets organization, will have an opportunity to mentor younger Hornets and serve as Hornet role models.
This team will be wearing the traditional REP jersey colours.
We also hope to unveil our new Hornets' logo next month after the vote of the logo contest concludes sometime later this month.

Oakville Hornets Intermediate AA to Debut in 2010/2011 Season!
The Oakville Hornets Girls Hockey Association have voted to operate their Intermediate AA Team as the Oakville Hornets Intermediate AA for the upcoming 2010/2011 season and following. The goal in integrating the team as part of the Hornets Rep programme is to promote the development and retention of Oakville Rep players in our system while at the same time icing a competitive Intermediate AA team. By having the Intermediate AA team work more closely with our younger rep teams we hope to afford a greater opportunity to inspire and improve our younger players.
The team uniform and logo will be consistent with all other rep teams. The team intends to compete in the PWHL. Mark McMahon, Vice-President Rep, will be our PWHL liaison.
Subject to specific necessary exclusions approved by the Board, the plan is to operate the Intermediate AA team as we would any of our other Rep teams. The team will be overseen by a permanent committee of the Board of Directors to be known as the Intermediate Committee. The current members of the Intermediate Committee are Mark McMahon, Vice-President Rep, and Greg Lahn, Vice-President of Operations. They will be soliciting additional members to participate on the Intermediate Committee.
An application for the head coaching position is now posted on the website and the successful candidate will be reviewed in accordance with the process established by the Rep Coaches Selection Committee and will be confirmed by the Board.
The team budget for 2010/2011 will be developed in consultation with contributing parents and players and will be reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee in accordance with established Rep policy.
